Global jewellery giant Pandora comes to Loughborough

A LOUGHBOROUGH department store is celebrating a coup after attracting a global jewellery giant to the town in a move which will create six jobs.

Managers at Tylers in Carillon Court shopping centre have secured a deal with the Danish jewellery chain which is famous for its distinctive charm bracelets seen adorning the arms of US pop superstar Taylor Swift and former Spice girl and fashion icon Victoria Beckham.

Up to six new jobs are expected to be created at the new £250,000 refurbished store which is next to Tylers in Carillon Court and is expected to be open by mid-March, in time for Mother’s Day.

It is a major coup for the family behind the department store which has been a mainstay of Loughborough’s high street for more than ninety years.

Mat Tyler, one of Tylers’ Directors, said: “We are really excited to see this new Pandora store at Carillon Court taking shape now. It is something we have been working on since June last year and is the first time, in our 92-year history, that we extended outside of our existing building.

“We have been stocking Pandora jewellery for six years now and it has gone from strength to strength.

“Over this time, we have increased the sales area for Pandora within Tylers but this reached a plateau and we knew we wanted to continue to improve the range we were able to offer and further our partnership with this highly successful and much-loved brand.

“The aim was simply to create a purpose built Pandora store which would allow us to stock the very best and varied ranges in a much better environment.

“It will be what is called a concept store and will be the largest and newest in the East Midlands when it opens in mid- March.”

Pandora jewellery is sold in more than 80 countries on six continents and has approximately 1,100 concept stores worldwide.

Nigel Simpson, Retail Director for Pandora, said: “We are thrilled to announce the opening of our new store in Loughborough town centre.

“As a Danish brand aimed at women of all ages, the new store embodies a Scandinavian, feminine design and acts as the perfect setting for our beautiful hand-finished jewellery.”

Mat added: “We are renting the new store from Carillon Court and it has been terrific to work with the shopping centre to ensure Loughborough has a new Pandora store.”

Baljit Kooner, Carillon Court Manager, said: “We are really celebrating the arrival of Pandora at Carillon Court, not least because it will be a fantastic addition for our shoppers to enjoy.

“We have been delighted to work with Tylers who I know have put in a lot of effort to secure a Pandora store for the town.

“We are all committed to improving the shopping experience for the 4m people we welcome every year and building on the already terrific brands we have at Carillon Court including New Look, Top Shop, Boots and the Body Shop.”

Mat agreed and added: “The great thing about Pandora is that it is not only a footfall driver which will benefit all the businesses in the town but we also believe it will be a great catalyst for encouraging other big brands to Loughborough.”

Also delighted to hear the news was Loughborough MP Nicky Morgan who said: “I am delighted to hear that Pandora has chosen to come to open a new store in town.

“This is a sign of real confidence in Loughborough’s retail offering and will create jobs and add to the shopping experience in the town.  I am certainly looking forward to visiting!”
